Pimple Marks

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Pimple Marks
Pimple marks are one of the embarrassing little reminders that our skin isn't always as clear as we would like for it to be. Acne marks are the scar-like tissues that are left behind when the skin suffers from a particularly nasty pimple. Sometimes pimple marks can appear as pink or reddened spots of skin, but they may also appear as dark colored or pit-like marks. The damaged tissue often can develop into a permanent scar, even despite all of the recommended skin treatments one may perform. But don't give up hope--there are treatments worth trying, and even if a scar does result from a pimple mark, using scar-minimizing techniques can help lessen the appearance of the scar. We are going to talk about a few great treatment methods for pimple marks that you might find helpful.
We've all seen pictures or movies where a woman is sat in a spa with cucumber slices placed over her eyes. Most of us might believe this to be silly, but in actuality cucumber is really good for the skin. Cucumber has been used for many years as a means to rehydrate and nourish the skin. One way to reap the healing benefits of cucumber is to juice a cucumber in your own kitchen. Although the juice would be beneficial to your whole face, you really only have to concentrate on the areas where pimple marks are prominent. Alternatively, you can simply apply a fresh slice of cucumber to the area. This is best done on a night time of when you have about 15 minutes spare to lie back and let the cucumber take effect. The vitamins in the cucumber and cucumber juice will help the skin to heal a little quicker which should also minimize the appearance of any scarring that may result.
Tea tree oil is another natural and easy to apply treatment for healing acne and marks left by acne. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial disinfectant that can help lift dirt and bacteria that clog the pores on the skin. When used sparingly in combination with a scrubbing agent, such as sugar, it can help clear away dead skin cells that may be hindering the skin's ability to heal pimple marks. Simply combine a few drops of tea tree oil, water, and sugar to create a thick paste. Wash the skin with a very gentle face wash, then apply the tea tree and sugar paste to the areas of your skin that have acne marks. Very gently work the paste over the skin. The idea is to gently wipe away elements that may be slowing the healing process, not to scrub away at the sensitive healing skin.
In cases where you are dealing with older acne scars, the only alternative to a laser surgery may be to lighten the scars to make them less noticeable. A mixture of cream (such as single or whipping cream) and a few drops of lemon juice can, over time, lighten the skin. Application of this mixture would have to be very steady, as you wouldn't want to lighten the healthy skin around the scars. You might find that a cotton swab/Q-tip works well to get the precision needed for smaller scars, such as those left by one or two pimples. It may take several weeks of applications before you can notice an improvement, so patience is quite necessary for this technique.
In some cases, severe pimple marks or scarring may need something more "heavy duty" than what these natural remedies can offer. If you believe that your pimple marks may be severe enough to require a medical evaluation, then you should consider seeing a dermatologist for confirmation.
