Tips on How to Treat a Painful Pimple

If you have a painful pimple there is no doubt that you want it to disappear as soon as possible. Pimples that cause pain are nearly as bad as those that are just really unsightly. Of course you can have an unsightly pimple that is also painful, either way the one thing that you want to do is treat that pimple so that it goes away more quickly, and is not as painful.

Nearly everyone has had at least one painful pimple, and one of the first things that most people do is try and get rid of it as soon as possible. Unfortunately if you don’t treat acne properly you can end up with scarring, which is definitely something you want to avoid.

To successfully treat a painful pimple the first thing you need to do is find out exactly what type of pimple you have. Some pimples may be infected, while others are cystic in nature. If the pimple is cystic you have more of a chance of ending up with scarring due to the fact that this type of people goes very deep into the skin. If it is a cystic pimple, it is best to see a dermatologist for treatment.

Another important thing is that you not become too stressed over a pimple; keep in mind that stress is a contributing factor to acne and the more stressed you are, the more problems you will have with pimples. Whatever you do, if you do have a painful pimple, do not try and pop it as soon as it appears.

You will want to wash your face with soap and water, but don’t scrub at the painful pimple because this can make the condition even worse. Keep in mind that it isn’t going to be possible to get rid of the pimple by scrubbing alone; your purpose is to remove dirt and oil from the pores that are causing pimples. It is also important that you use a clean cloth so that you don’t get any bacteria on your skin or pimples. Also, try and use only skincare products that don’t irritate your skin, which can also make the condition worse.

For a lot of people, using soap and water just isn’t enough to cure acne and prevent them getting a painful pimple; if this is the case you will then want to try some over the counter skin products that are meant for treating pimples. Choose a product based on your skin type, such as if you have normal skin, or skin that is excessively oily.

You will want to wash with soap and water and use the acne products every morning and at night before going to bed. You will also want to do the same if you have been sweating excessively. This will help to keep your pores free of oil that will cause you to get a painful pimple. Be sure that you do not wash your skin too much, or use skin products more often than recommended as this could make your acne problem even worse.

If you feel that it is necessary to pop your painful pimple the best way to do this is to hold a wet, warm cloth over the pimple; this will help to bring the pimple to a head and soften the skin so it is easier to extract. After a few moments of holding a warm rag on the pimple you will then place some sterile gauze over the pimple and apply gentle pressure, without squeezing. If the pimple is ready this will pop it; if it isn’t, don’t force it or this could lead to scarring. Only try and pop a painful pimple if it does not look like it is infected or cystic.

Avoid getting a painful pimple by eating right and taking good care of your skin.
